the world is watching

"Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that." - Martin Luther King, Jr.
I understand the range of emotion. But I am uneasy by some of what I have seen and heard. Patriotism skates close to the edge of something scary. And there are questions, hard questions. About justice and revenge, wars still waging, accountability.
I had lunch today with four colleagues in our office break room. One from Denmark, another from Spain, a Canadian woman, and another American.
The world is watching.
I am uneasy with what are giving them to see.

amen
well said - i totally agree
As a Canadian I find the images and situation scary. Where does it end? Why are youth who were 8/9/10 in 2001 rejoicing in the streets? How do we define justice?
Thank you for this post!
I agree so much, it's been scary to watch from a distance the celebrations in the US.
It is a relief that we do not need to be concerned about this person any more but celebrating death is exactly what he stood for.
I feel like he is winning still when people celebrate his dealth the way he celebrated the death of others.
I'm with you all the way.
Chest bumping on the white house lawn?
Please.
thank you, thank you! I agree 100%
