Faces

Three of my favorite faces.

I'll never tire of seeing them.
Kissing them.
Capturing them.
These are the faces I cup in my palms, I press to my lips, I hold to my cheek.

I'm two-thirds of the way through my first week on the new job.
I love it.
I'm really excited about being part of this project, and I already have so many ideas swirling around, springing up.
The timing was right.
I love being home full time with my boys.
It fulfills me, it inspires me. I love it completely.
That's how I knew this job was the one to take.
It's not often black and white.
We are more complicated than our choices.
More complex than our labels.
I love being home with my boys.
I love what I do for a living.
I'm so glad I have been able to try both.
To do both.
To be home with these faces.
To come home to these faces.
And this time around, I leave with an easier mind.
Because while I am stepping out for a good chunk of the day,
I am only one of many. I am not their only source of love, of comfort, of delight.
They have each other, these three.
Brothers are a beautiful thing.

Brothers are a beautiful thing indeed! Congrats on the new job and for being able to fulfill your every desire!
Thank you, Pamela.
But I want to be clear - staying home wasn't always easy, working sure will have tough days or weeks. I hope I didn't give the impression that I've got life under complete control.
But big picture? Things feel right. And while I battle the guilt of choices that every parent makes whether they're giving up time with their kids or a career they love, I am feeling at peace and excited about where I'm at right now.
Those are some wicked cute brother faces.
And I'm sooo glad that this new gig is feeling right. Isn't it great to find that balance--when you get to do a bit of both things you love?
Lovely pictures and lovely words, Elizabeth. These, especially, speak to me today: "It's not often black and white. We are more complicated than our choices. More complex than our labels."
So happy to hear that your transition to your new job is going well.
Just, love. So beautiful. Thank you.
@Kristen - it's true, isn't it? When people hear stay at home/working mom, they make all sorts of assumptions. About the mother, about why she chose what she chose, about whether or not she even had a choice. When really? Knowing where/whether someone works for pay outside the house doesn't tell us a whole lot about them, does it?
Brothers are amazing!
I have 2 boys and they take care of each other so well.
Love the faces of your boys...especially the ones in the bins.
I'm so glad it's working out for you. You have some seriously beautiful boys! These are such nice photos!
I almost started to cry at the line about these being the faces you cup in your palms... so sweet.
We are so blessed to be mothers!;D
Love those sweeties! We often sail around in our bins too. Who needs toys-- the box is way more fun!
I love these pictures! I can't believe how much Owen looks like you as he grows up! Beautiful boy!
I love this.
They're so beautiful. They make me want another.
I'm so happy you are happy. Your writing is infused with such peace and confidence. It's really inspiring.
First of all - that first picture of your oldest... you can so tell he's your son (just from the pictures I've seen of you on here!!). What a handsome bunch of boys you have!
And I'm so happy for you about the job. To have something that enhances your life, and have it be a job, is an incredible thing.
Just beautiful!
So heart-warming! And congrats on the new job.
There is nothing like being able to see all those little moments. Congrats on the job. I love your photos. Beautiful boys!
brothers are a wonderful thing! great captures!!
That's great news that the job is going well. How often to you get to have your cake and eat it?! Enjoy it.
Great photos as always, I've started that 365 photo challenge to take a photo every day, it's going to be tough, I need some cute subjects like you have!
Jade
Beautiful! You oldest looks JUST like you... cute cute boys.
And I'm so happy you are happy! Way to go!!
ack. you kind of make me want to have more babies.
And yet again, Elizabeth, I could have written something very similar. I just don't what else to say right now but that I "get it." Life at home with the boys, life away from them at work, the trust in the other people in their lives, all of it.
Brothers. You help me to see that it is more than mud and madness. Thank you.
Sarah
I don't think I'll ever gt over how much boys have taken over my life.
Or how okay I am with it :)
Gorgeous photos - great post. I love watching the budding camaraderie of my children - I can only imagine that three brothers would be even more intense.
You're so fortunate to have the opportunity to do all things that you love.
Elizabeth your boys are gorgeous. And how blessed you are to be able to do what you love for a living. Coming home to those beautiful, eager faces is sure to fill a heart with joy.
So happy for you!
What a gift.
I have 4 brothers. And now 2 boys of my own. I'm jealous of their bond. Their love and hate and joy and passion for each other. It's all in them, that brother's love. So glad I get to be along for the ride as their mother.
Um, sorry - got wrapped up in that one! Your boys are absolutely adorable. Lucky Lady.
what fun pictures of your boys! Looks like you guys were having fun! Simple fun is always the best kind:)
