Lazy Mornings

This is why we invested in a King size bed.

Mornings like this are sheer bliss.

One by one, sweet, silly, snugly little boys join us in bed. The baby's bright blue eyes stare into mine as he lay perfectly still, his rosy lips pursed in a little 'o' while I gently tickle his face from his temple, under his soft little chin, and up the other side of his face.

Next, my two year old pads in and climbs up. I smooch his chubby cheeks and then move over so he can play with his baby brother.

Last, my long-legged five year old joins the party, still groggy from sleep. He's always the last to wake and the most reluctant to leave the bed of boys.

I revel in these mornings with no alarm clock or schedule. We wake when we have finished sleeping, we play and snuggle until someone gets hungry and starts the one-by-one progression into the kitchen.

Only a few more months and we enter the world of kindergarten. Early, rushed mornings. A quick bowl of cereal instead of Dad's eggs and bacon. Running to catch the bus.

I know the next stage will have joys and pleasures of its own. But we're not there yet. We're still here. And so I will enjoy my lazy boy-filled bed while I can.

Sweet! Bummer I have a crack-of-dawner for a son... up at 6 (this morning 5:30...) so no snuggly time here. Boo! Luckily so is his dad... so I get to snooze a bit until Andrew leaves for work! Your oldest (Owen, right?) Look JUST like John, wow! Very cute boys of course Liz!
